The North Florida College EMS program offers the classes and training you need to begin a rewarding career in the EMS field. We use state-of-the-art simulation technology and in-the-field training opportunities.
EMS (A.S.)
The A.S. Degree in Emergency Medical Services provides EMT and paramedic training while preparing graduates for supervisory and administrative positions in the EMS field. NFC Paramedics may articulate into the A.S. Degree program.EMT-Basic
EMT-Basic is designed to provide first-phase training in the career structure of the emergency medical technician. NFC's students are trained and certified through the EMS section of the Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services.
Paramedic
The goal of the program is to provide the graduate with the knowledge, skill and professional attributes associated with an entry-level paramedic position. Graduates are trained to prevent and reduce mortality and morbidity due to illness or injury.
Emergency Medical Responder
To prepare competent entry-level Paramedics in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains with or without exit points at the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and/or Emergency Medical Technician, and/or Emergency Medical Responder levels
The data below consists of the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) National Exam and the State of Florida Exam Pass Rates; information regarding student retention; and job placement of graduates.
The NFC Paramedic program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of CoAEMSP. Following successful course completion, a graduate will be authorized to take the National Registry (NREMT) written and practical certification exams. Graduates that do not live in Florida are eligible to take the exam in the state in which they reside and apply for licensure in that state.
